This specimen of Arizona petrified wood was found near Petrified Forest National . This unique material formed over 200 million years ago during the Late Triassic period, when fallen trees were buried under sediment and gradually replaced by minerals like quartz, iron oxides, and manganese. The result is a stunning array of colors, including deep reds, oranges, yellows, purples, and blues. Most Arizona petrified wood comes from ancient conifer species, such as Araucarioxylon arizonicum, which is the state fossil of Arizona. The mineralization process preserves intricate details of the original wood, including growth rings and bark textures, making each piece a natural work of art.

The specimen is 160 g (5.6  oz) with the mineral sand included. One side of the slab has been polished. The specimen has been treated with a sealant to preserve the colors.
